Early Cancer Detection
Researchers from IBM have created a small chip that can help detect diseases like cancer by separating biological particles at the nanoscale.
This will be able to help physicians detect diseases such as cancer even before symptoms appear.
The team’s results show that the separation of bioparticles is down to the size of 20 nanometers in diameter—those with similar sizes are DNA, viruses, and exosomes. So once separated, the particles can be analyzed by physicians to see signs of disease even before the patients experience any physical symptoms.

Researchers from IBM are also cooperating with other collegiate research teams to help with the production of this chip.
As of now, this new technology is still in its testing phase, and engineers are trying to improve how they are going to read, analyze and interpret data from the nanoparticles.
If this becomes a success, we may be able to find solutions to different diseases like cancer.
