This Engineer Couple Are Relationship and Travel Goals Combined
Isn’t it everybody’s dream to pack up their bags and travel to different wonderful places with the person they love?
Unfortunately, for most engineers, that dream becomes impossible since our jobs require us to stick to one place at a time. We just can’t let go of what we’re used to and most of us are just afraid to try a life of traveling.
But this couple is different.

Jeffrey Decker graduated from Michigan Technological University with a mechanical engineering degree while his wife Cara Henson has a degree in environmental engineering from the same university. Their exciting journey began when they decided to take a break from their careers to travel the world. They even share their wonderful journeys on their blog, Engineered Wanderlust.
In a short post, they shared the story behind what got them to take a break from being an engineer and travel instead:

“It all started when we were trying to decide on what we wanted to do for our honeymoon as we were planning our wedding. We started talking about taking 3 weeks to go see Australia and New Zealand. This turned into maybe taking 4 weeks to go see some part of Asia as that was the only part of the world that Cara hadn’t traveled to. This quickly turned into dreaming of taking even more time and making lists of places we wanted to see. We were busy saving money and planning a wedding, and really didn’t think much beyond dreaming, but that slowly changed as we realized we could save more and weren’t going to spend as much as we thought on our wedding. Soon we were looking into around-the-world travel blogs and how much it would really cost, and we began to realize it could be a reality.”
What really got them to pack their bags and start their adventure was when they found an opportunity to take a trip to Finland with their closest friends. They also mentioned that they wanted to do this first before the start a family.
Once you’ll see the map of all the places they’ve been to, you may want to consider traveling to different places as well (together with the person you love if you’re lucky).

Jeffrey and Cara encourage others to do the same – they want young professionals “to seize opportunities” when given the chance. The couple has been traveling for almost eight months now and as of this writing, they are enjoying the wonderful Thailand.
