We should no longer be surprised that there are small projects sprouting out of the different areas in Africa especially in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and South Africa. There is now a widespread initiative to innovate in schools that resulted to another addition in projects that will help uplift the quality of life in Nigeria: battery-powered fans.

Made only out of wire meshes, aluminium, cartons and a battery, the fan made by this Nigerian teenager is a testament that even the young ones can contribute in the technology growth in his country. Ukoma Michael, who is from Ideato North, L.G.A. now residing in Aba with his parents, has hand-crafted such fans he now calls Blue Wind. The battery-operated fans come in different shapes and sizes that can come as a regular standing fan or a rectangular table top fan. Apart from the variety is its capacity to fan out air at 19 hours non-stop given a full-charge. It comes with a full carton packaging.

Michael is one of those Nigerian youth with great ambition to become innovators. He plans to put up a company specializing in making fans, engine parts and aircrafts. With this kind of ability in such a young age, no doubt he will be able to make it one day.
