Dubai Electricity and Water Authority launched their 6th Science Week. Their theme was ‘Innovative Emirati Engineer’. Many people attended the event, including University professors, college students and DEWA representatives and employees. The theme shows DEWA’s commitment to support Emiratizaton, and to improve and empower the skills of Emirati engineers, which will make them capable of innovation and be able to contribute in achieving DEWA objectives.

According to HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayere, MD and CEO of DEWA “I am happy to welcome you all to DEWA’s 6th Science Week, which is being held under the theme ‘Innovative Emirati Engineer,’ with the participation of university professors, university and college students, and a number of DEWA’s representatives and employees. Science Week supports the National Innovation Strategy, which was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world, and transform Dubai into an international role model for Research and Development (R&D), to achieve the highest levels of energy efficiency, while increasing dependence on clean and renewable energy. DEWA works to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to transform Dubai into an international hub for clean energy and green economy. The strategy also aims to increase Dubai’s total power output from clean energy to 7% by 2020, 25% by 2030, and to 75% by 2050.”
This 6th Science week of DEWA focuses on discussions about projects regarding solar energy products, smart grids, electricity generation, electricity transmission and distribution networks, and fiber optic cables. They will also showcase the Dubai Smart Soil initiative, which is a special mix of oils which is used to over medium- voltage cables.
