We’ve all tried dating apps that let us swipe right or left based on someone’s appearance. I personally swipe right on someone who looks smart. We also check their bios to see if we have something in common with them. After all, if we want to date them, it would be great if we can talk about something aside from the weather. It’s still useful for people who are looking for hookups – at least we can talk about our love for Batman after doing the deed, right?
But have you ever thought it would be better if there’s a dating app that allows people to find love based on their common hatred on different matters? Well, given society’s creativity in finding love, there’s an app that exactly does that! Now wouldn’t that be an interesting take on dating?

Launching on February 8, the Hater app allows its users to select different topics to swipe right to if they like them, left if disliked, up if loved or down if they absolutely hate them. So if you happen to hate Nickleback, you’ll find yourself being directed to a group of people who hate the band as well. If you hate certain people in politics, you may no longer have to worry about dating someone who feels the opposite for them. Good riddance!
Once the app is launched, there are around 2,000 topics to express your opinion to. But don’t expect finding a topic that relates to how people hate Beyonce. That may be possible but we all know what the beyhive can do with them.

Brendan Alper, CEO of Hater, came up with the idea of the app when he became a comedy writer after quitting his job at Goldman Sachs. He said in an interview with Cut, “The more I thought about it, the more I thought, Hey even though this was a funny idea, it actually makes a lot of sense.”
Love it or hate it, we’re sure lots of people will try this one out. Finding love based on things you hate? Possible!
