Young Engineers, YOU Can Make Your Country Great

We have an important job ahead of us.

Young Engineers, YOU Can Make Your Country Great

This year has been a rollercoaster ride for so many millennial engineers around the globe. With so many deaths due to Covid-19 and economic recession that bombard the online news everyday, we have heard the same sentiments from our families and friends.

People are starting to lose hope that there will be a brighter future for the next generations to come. People don’t know what to expect from their leaders. Some are scared while some have already forgotten the word “progress”.

It’s true that we have different opinions on various affairs – opinions that would cause tension and hate towards each other. But this article is not going to focus on national politics and international affairs. To the young engineers reading this, let us remind you that each of us is capable of making an impact in our community. However small or big that impact may be, it is possible.

We are young.

We are eager.

We are intelligent.

We are still hopeful.

We are still idealistic – and honestly, that’s good.

And we have the energy to create a difference for the people around us.

If you think your country needs saving, then do it. Raise awareness, inform people and use the right tools to make all of these happen. By working together, we can come up with the ideas that are not only good for this nation, but may also help other nations as well.

Always believed that science and technology are the keys to make a nation become progressive. To focus on research and development, it will lead us to the advancement a society needs to thrive in this harsh world. We have to compete with the changing times and it’s time to show everyone that engineers are capable of leading a society to progress. It is time to let our voices be heard. It is time to inform everyone that our leaders should put a spotlight on science, technology and engineering. To be left behind in these fields means we lose our chances of survival.

To lose hope is futile. Remember the times when you had to survive engineering school? No matter how hard those times were, we persevered. No matter how many times people have told us to give up on our dream in becoming an engineer, we kept fighting until we finally marched in front of the crowd with the diplomas we worked so hard for.

You are an engineer. You are capable of making your country great. If you don’t have the yellow brick road in front of you, do not wait for your leaders to create one for you and the rest of world. Do it yourself. Do it with your colleagues. Do it with everyone else.

Remember, it is not only the leaders’ job to change the world but ours as well. Again, you are capable of making great things possible. Do not underestimate your worth. Do not underestimate what you can do for your country. You can make your country great.
