Way back in 2020, we asked engineering students who are die-hard and hardcore gamers two questions: What are your top 3 best mechanical keyboards, and what keyboard are you currently using? In 2022, we asked the same questions to the same engineering students. This is an updated article for 2023.
There were 128 Filipino students and 24 engineering professionals who were still hooked on gaming. From Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the respondents gave their wish list of mechanical keyboards with detailed criticisms and gaming experiences.
Surprisingly, the cost of purchasing mechanical keyboards is the least factor in the buying decision process. 86% of the respondents mentioned two important reasons… zero anti-ghosting and durability. Over the years, they have purchased 2-3 mechanical keyboards and are able to compare vividly the best, over-rated and mediocre.

What are mechanical keyboards?
Mechanical keyboards have been getting a lot of attention lately, especially from Filipino gamers. But what are they, and why are they so popular?
A mechanical keyboard is a keyboard that uses physical switches to register keystrokes. These switches are usually located under the keys, and they provide a distinctive “click” sound when pressed.
The best mechanical keyboards in the Philippines are popular among Filipino gamers because they offer a few advantages over regular keyboards.
First, the physical switches make them more durable, so they can withstand heavy use.
Second, the “click” sound provides feedback that helps gamers know when a key has been registered.
And finally, mechanical keyboards often come with customizable keycaps and backlighting, which can give your gaming setup a more personal touch.
Different types of switches for the best mechanical keyboards in the Philippines
There are many different types of switches for mechanical keyboards. The most common type is the Cherry MX switch. However, there are also other switches, such as the Topre switch, the Alps switch, and the Gateron switch.
The Cherry MX switch is the most popular type of switch for mechanical keyboards. It is a linear switch that provides a smooth, consistent keystroke. The main types of Cherry MX switches are red, black, brown, and blue switches.
The Topre switch is a non-linear switch that provides tactile feedback when you press it. The main types of Topre switches are the 30g, 45g, and 55g switches.

How to choose the best mechanical keyboards in the Philippines
When it comes to choosing a mechanical keyboard, there are a few things you need to take into account. Here are the most important factors to consider when choosing the best mechanical keyboard for you:
- Key switch type: The key switches are the heart of any mechanical keyboard, so it’s important to choose the right ones for your needs. There are three main switch types: linear, tactile, and clicky. Linear switches have a smooth, consistent keystroke, while tactile switches have a slight bump in the middle of the keystroke. Clicky switches have a pronounced click sound when pressed.
- Keycap material: The keycaps are what you’ll be typing on, so it’s important to choose a material that feels comfortable to you. The most common materials are ABS plastic and PBT plastic. ABS is a softer plastic that wears out faster but is also more pliable and easier to clean. PBT is stronger and more durable, but it’s also harder and less flexible.
- The price of a mechanical keyboard. It’s important to choose a mechanical keyboard that fits your budget. Mechanical keyboards can range from PHP 3000 to PHP 10,000+, with the higher-end models generally offering more features and better build quality.
Why gamers need to buy the best mechanical keyboards in the Philippines
Mechanical keyboards are all the rage these days among gamers. But what are they, and why do Filipino gamers need one?
A mechanical keyboard is a keyboard that uses physical switches beneath the keys to determine when a key has been pressed. This makes for a more satisfying and precise typing experience.
For gamers, a mechanical keyboard can mean the difference between winning and losing. The extra precision and responsiveness can give them an edge over their opponents.
Filipino gamers should consider investing in a mechanical keyboard if they want to take their gaming to the next level. With the right keyboard, they can dominate the competition and come out on top.
Proper maintenance of the best mechanical keyboards in the Philippines
If you’re one of the many people who have switched from a regular keyboard to a mechanical one, you may be wondering how to best take care of your new investment. Here are a few tips to keep your keyboard in tip-top shape:
- Keep it clean. Just like any other piece of electronics, your keyboard is susceptible to dust and dirt build-up. Use a can of compressed air to blow out the nooks and crannies, and give the keys a good wipe-down with a microfiber cloth.
- Don’t forget the keycaps. The keycaps are just as important as the keys themselves, so make sure to clean them on a regular basis as well.
- Be careful with liquids. If you spill anything on your keyboard, it’s important to act quickly and carefully. First, turn the keyboard upside down so that the liquid doesn’t seep into the keys. Then, use a cloth or paper towel to soak up as much of the liquid as possible. Once you’ve done that, let the keyboard air dry before using it again.
- Be careful when removing keycaps. Some keys may be attached more securely than others, so you don’t want to risk breaking them off. If you do accidentally break a keycap, you can purchase replacements online.
- Keep your hands clean. Contrary to popular belief, the oils on your fingertips won’t affect the way your keyboard works. However, if you do get something sticky on your hands and touch a key, it may leave marks. To avoid this, wash your hands before using the keyboard.
How to clean the best mechanical keyboards in the Philippines
Cleaning a mechanical keyboard is important to do every few months or more frequently if the keyboard is used in a dusty environment. Some people may think that because mechanical keyboards are built with durability in mind, they do not require much maintenance. However, dust and dirt can still accumulate over time and cause the keys to become sticky or difficult to press.
To clean the best mechanical keyboards in the Philippines:
- First, unplug it from your computer.
- Then, use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust that has been collected inside the keyboard.
- Next, use a damp cloth to wipe down the keys and the body of the keyboard.
- Be sure not to use too much water, as this could damage the electronics inside the keyboard.
- Finally, use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining moisture.
