Let’s Head Over to Germany: There is a Cloud in Berlin That Rains Tequila

The cloud is programmed to dispense tequila.

Clouds in sky usually just shower us with water through a process called precipitation. Now, there is a cloud that generates raindrops of alcohol – tequila to be exact.

Though it doesn’t hover in the sky together with the nimbus clouds. It only exists in the Urban Spree art gallery in Berlin.

According to the ad agency LAPIZ on behalf of the Mexican tourist board, its purpose is not to get the art visitors drunk, but to pull in crowds of tourists from Europe and lead them to the tequila-loving nation of Mexico.

The cloud is programmed to dispense tequila when it is raining outside in a bid to tempt to Germans to sunnier places – no other than Mexico. “Forget the winter, have a taste of Mexico,” the Mexican tourist board suggests.

It works by using special humidifiers that vibrate tequila at an ultrasonic frequency turning it into a thick fog, which goes into a plastic container where it mixes with vapour to form a cloud. And voila! The condensed water falls as separate raindrops of tequila.

For someone who hates to wait, note that it will take a while before your shot glass gets filled with alcohol below the cloud. But the guests of the art gallery should get the idea: go to Mexico for more tequila in a sunny vacation. Plus, having to taste alcohol from an unusual cloud is already an exceptional experience.

Urban Spree invites the Germans in a weeklong display of the cloud, “Forget your umbrella, rain boots, and coat and come by Urban Spree to unwind and add some happy to your winter. Prost!” The tequila from the cloud can be tasted for free.

After USA, Germany is the second largest importer of Mexican tequila, which should explain why the alcoholic rain pours there.
