10 Shocking Results from DNA Ancestry Tests

You can learn more about your family and where you came from

You have probably heard about DNA kits that are easily available today and that can help to tell you more about your own genetic history.

You can learn more about your family and where you came from, and you can get a better picture of the history of your people, if you choose the best DNA test on offer. In the past, getting this kind of information would have been impossible, or at least very expensive. Today, the technology is more commonplace, and you can find fantastic prices for DNA kits that can provide you with this type of information.

These are a fun and interesting item, but they can sometimes provide some results that are quite shocking to those who receive them.

The following are 10 of the most unexpected and shocking results from these types of tests. You will even see some celebrities who received some surprise news.

  1. Andrew Bullock was adopted from an orphanage when he was a baby and never knew of his biological parents. When he was in his early 50s, he discovered that he was adopted and decided to take a DNA test. Rather than being Irish, as he thought, it turned out that he was Slavic with some Mongolic heritage, as well.
  2. Craig Cobb is not a good human being. He identifies himself as a white nationalist, and he is a promoter of hate speech and hate crimes. However, when he took a DNA test, it was discovered that he was 14% sub-Saharan African. He still denies the results of the test.
  3. Krista Brian believed that she was Hispanic and that her father died by suicide when she was a baby. After taking her DNA test, though, she found that her father was a different man who was still alive, and that she was African American rather than Hispanic.
  4. Walter Macfarlane and Alan Robinson had been friends for decades. Both were born in Hawaii and stayed close with one another over the years. When Macfarlane wanted to learn more about his father, he found that he had a half-brother… who happened to be his longtime friend Robinson.
  5. Although Eva Longoria is considered by most to be Mexican and Native American, and she has championed those causes, it turns out that she is 70% European.
  6. Many people claim to have Native American ancestry, but it appears that Oprah Winfrey really does. She is 8% Native American.
  7. Mario Lopez has a large amount of Spanish and Native American DNA, unsurprisingly. However, the DNA results also showed that he had a large percentage of British DNA, as well.
  8. Tyra Banks also has some British ancestors. She is 85% African or Native American, but she is also 14% British.
  9. When Alice Collins Plebuch took a DNA test, she found out that she was half Ashkenazi Jewish. She and the rest of the family believed that they were Irish. Other members of the family were tested with the same results. After a lot of research, they discovered that her father had been switched at birth and was Jewish.
  10. Doreen Isherwood and Anne Hall were English women, and when they took their ancestry test, they believed that the results would show they were English and perhaps they would have some ancestry from other parts of Europe. However, it instead showed that they had Native American ancestors, as well.
