Contrary to popular belief, mining sites can still be used by the communities after all its resources have been mined out. Through responsible mining and a good reclamation program, companies can leave the sites in good disposition. Chances of it returning to their pre-mine uses may be low but these mine sites can still help the communities around them.

In order for it to be beneficial, mining companies can work together with the government, investors and people from their communities must come up with the best way to re-use the site again. Different mine sites have been used as:
