This Tiny Home Was Designed To Look Like An Air Duct

We can see different buildings around the world that have been designed to look like other things like China’s mobile phone building, and South Korea’s giant camera cafe. This tiny building however isn’t as flashing as the buildings i’ve mentioned. In London, a tiny home was designed to look like an air duct.

Why an air duct? Well, in London, they have planning rules that allow mechanical equipment to be installed without permission, that is why this rooftop home is more of a disguise rather than  a decorative design. The tiny building was created by PUP Architects, a local firm in London.

“While permitted development exists for large scale infrastructural roof installations, little challenge has been made for other viable and productive uses for rooftops,” London local firm PUP Architects said “By subverting the form of the permitted and giving it a non-standard use, we hope to bring into question this order of priorities.”

Named H-VAC, the tiny home was built mostly from prefab materials by a team of volunteers. The building has a wood frame that is covered in folded shingles that was made from Tetra-Pak container material. This made the outer part of the structure looked like it had scales of a dragon egg. The interior art of the building has a small room with benches for visitors to enjoy the outside view below. It has a hung staircase that connects it directly to the artist studios in the warehouse that is beneath it.
