Here’s a Selfie Drone That Doubles as a Phone Case

Airselfie can lift off straight from the hand.

We’ve reached that age of technology where drones are no longer bulky and much easier to control. They can already be put inside our pockets and can even be used as a phone case. Yup, a phone case.

This is what the Airselfie is all about. It is a drone which is housed in a phone, removing the need for a stick when taking selfies. So far, it is the only portable flying camera integrated into the mobile phone cover.

Needless to say that this is a groundbreaking device that changes the selfies game. It can easily snap aerial photos directly from the phone with its built-in 5-megapixel camera, covering a much wider background for your seflies.

Using the drone has three modes. First is the Selfie mode, which allows the user to control the drone far or close to him or her. Second, the Selfie Control mode, which controls the AirSelfie in real time with the virtual joystick provided by App. The last mode is the Flying mode, where the device is held horizontally and replaces a classic controller. As it hovers, Airselfie comes to a still point and takes the shot.

It is like a phone case that flies. Airselfie can lift off straight from the hand, which can be controlled with virtual joysticks in the Airselfie app as mentioned. The drone is unbelievably light at only 52 grams because it is made of aluminum.

Although its battery lasts for only three minutes, it could be charged for only 30 minutes via a microUSB cable. It can also be used with the battery that is built into the optional power bank case.

Backers over Kickstarter have accumulated over $617,000 to make this project possible. Interested buyers can pre-order on the company’s website, and the drone will be delivered this May.

Airselfie does not work with every phone though. It can only fit the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus, Google Pixel, and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
