Building Resilient Water Solutions: Water Reuse & Recycling Conference

IDA International Water Reuse & Recycling Conference, September 28-30, Rome, Italy

Water Reuse

This September, the International Desalination Association is pleased to present the third International Water Reuse & Recycling Conference, held in Rome, Italy, from September 28-30.

Dedicated to solving the world’s demand for fresh water in a time of climate uncertainty and growing limited freshwater resources, this conference takes a new, dynamic approach to the questions of a sustainable and circular water economy considering both policy and technical innovation. The WRR Conference examines critical questions under a contemporary and interdisciplinary lens, striving to implement real change for a sustainable future.

“We expect that demand for water, its uses and the number of users will increase considerably in future. Therefore, the required strengthening of the guarantee of availability, its quality and improved service will be provided precisely by a new, enhanced resource management based on innovation and investment in R&D and this in turn will become one of the driving forces of a new water governance model,” said Carlos Cosin, President of IDA

“Our conference focuses on the treatment technology and processes, regulatory needs and financing / legal frameworks needed to expand the adoption of reuse and recycling,” said IDA Technical Program Committee Co-Chair, Mr. Borja Blanco.

Opening with a welcome reception generously hosted by the Government of Spain at the majestic residence of HE Ambassador Alfonso Dastis, Palazzo Montorio, Rome, the Conference will present a series of panels examining key issues such as, “Financial Challenges for Public Utilities Incorporating Water Reuse,” “Water Reuse & Industrial Needs: Meeting the Challenge,” How Smart Cities are Building Water Resiliency,  “The Role of Water Reuse in Agriculture,” and more.

Extended abstracts will be accepted by the association until May 15 here.

The Conference will also include an awards ceremony for the Water Reuse and Conservation Awards, celebrating outstanding individuals and organizations who have demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to conservation and sustainable practices. The Association has opened its call for nominations which closes on July 15 , to be reviewed and evaluated by the Association’s Awards Committee, found here.
