While you are still in the early years of your career, it is the best time to grow professionally through planned and calculated risks. This can empower and benefit in your career in the long run. Here are some effective ways to take risks that can help grow your career.

Don’t Close Your Door of Opportunity

In other words, be open to new experiences. If you don’t take risks, you will never see the great experiences you can have behind the doors of opportunities.

It can come in many forms, moving to a different country for a new role, or moving to a different department with a new position, being given the responsibility of presenting your company’s new range of products in a meeting. The list is endless. Whenever you are given an opportunity, and you are in doubt, ask yourself, “Is there more to lose than there is to gain”, if the answer is yes, then maybe you need to think about it more. If the answer is no, then what are you waiting for, go grab that opportunity.

Know what you like (and don’t like)

Understanding what you, yourself, like and don’t like is important in your profession. Find that job that gives you satisfaction on both your passion and your financial needs. Find that perfect balance. It may be a difficult search, but finding that balance will be worth it in the long run.

Take Control

If you are not happy with your current position in your professional life right now, then you need to take control and take action. Do you feel that you’re not professionally growing, then try to make a change and start with yourself. Go learn a new skill, and apply it in your job. Request and join seminars that could improve your skills. If the company you are working for isn’t making an effort to help their employees grow, then maybe it’s time to leave.

Planned and calculated risk taking will not only increase your chances of improving the current situation you are in, but it will also boost your self-confidence and self-respect. This will help you take on new challenges and conquer your fears.
