Female Engineer
Definition of Misogynist (noun) a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women. Can you imagine Donald Trump as your engineering boss?
It’s a crucial time to be a woman today. In a society where many will doubt a woman’s capability to make a difference, it’s time women like us show everyone what we are capable of.
We see news everywhere about men holding us down and other women constantly criticizing us for being comfortable and confident with ourselves.
So, here’s a message to all the female engineers out there: take pride in what you are.
Engineering has always been a male-dominated field and having women practice it is often described as rare and a miracle. What people don’t know is that more women are getting themselves involved in STEM.
More women are becoming engineers. But being a female engineer is not easy. There is still discrimination involved despite living in the 21st century.
Being a female engineer, one has to deal with all the criticisms and silly comments – “Oh, she’s a woman. Men are better engineers.”
Men often want other men to be the bosses in the workplace and a female engineer’s opinion is often underestimated. There will be catcalls and there will be a possibility of getting sexually harassed in the workplace.
For female engineers, it’s tough not taken seriously and just be seen as an eye candy at work.
Heck, it’s unfair to go through all the struggles in engineering school just so misogynists can discourage you. It’s appalling to work so hard to achieve something in engineering, only to be easily dismissed by the misogynists at work.
But always remember that no matter how hard it is to be a woman at work, you have to take pride in being a female engineer. Do not ever let yourself be discouraged by men who aren’t comfortable with your presence. Do not let other people think that you are incapable of building things, creating new products and making history.
Remember you have so much potential in you and to reach this far in life as a woman in a male-dominated field, it’s an achievement on its own.
You are a female engineer who has the ability to achieve great things in your career, just like all the other men you work with. Do not ever back down from a fight just because you literally don’t have the balls. If you have something to say, let your voices be heard.
Be loud and clear. Show them your worth as an engineer, as a colleague and as a professional.

Inspire them to pursue STEM fields, especially engineering.
Support other female engineers you know and acknowledge the achievements of the women who went before you.
It’s time we help each other out.
It’s crucial for us to support each other.
So, go ahead, take pride in being a female engineer and let the whole world know that engineering is not just for men anymore.
