There are certain things in this world that only engineers will be able to understand. Not everyone understands the struggles of being an engineer, that’s why we have to stick together. After reading this I’m sure you’ll be able to relate, and bring out a big sigh. Here are some of the struggles that only engineers will be able to relate to.

You are constantly expected to fix household appliances

When people find out that you’re an engineer, they bring out a big smile and you’re sure what they’re going to say next “Hey! I have a broken ____, maybe you could take a look at it sometime?” What’s worse is that sometimes no matter what you say to them that you can’t fix household appliances, they’ll just think your being modest—or they’ll think you’re selfish AF or not helping them out.

Making kids’ science projects

In some point of your engineering life, you will always find at least one kid who needs your help with a science project of theirs. You’re happy to help them out, and actually spend more hours than you should. You’re actually enjoying it imagining how if only you knew how to do these when you were a kid yourself. Then you’ll realize that it’s already bedtime and the kid you were helping was gone hours ago.

Well, let’s say very FEW understand you. There will be times when a non-engineering friend will ask you how your day was, then you start talking about your awesome engineering job—which sounds exciting to you. But for them, all they hear is gibberish technical talk.

Well, this may seem like a mystery to you if you’re a freshie in engineering but you’ll soon get used to it as time goes by. There are many reasons for this. One is that some students sacrifice attendance in a certain subject to STUDY for another. Other reasons range from the class being too early, teacher factor, or they completely gave up on the subject because of difficulty

There are more guys than girls in most of your classes

Nowadays, the girl engineering population is growing. Getting more girls into the engineering field is good news—girls could bring a fresh new perspective to the engineering world! But, there are still some engineering courses that have more guys than girls. So let’s inspire more girls to get into the engineering field.
