Young Engineers
Hey young engineers, have you ever had that feeling that you’re getting nowhere?
It’s the kind of feeling you get when you scroll through your social media page and see that all of your relatives and other engineering friends have got everything planned and under control—then you look at yourself in the mirror and say
“Hi, I’m a 26-year-old mechanical engineer who still doesn’t know what to do with my life.”
I’ve been there, and believe me, it’s normal.
During that time, 50% of my friends were happy with their current jobs, and they were either saving up for their future or spending it with awesome stuff making sure not to waste their youth away.
30% found their true passions, even if it wasn’t in engineering, like singing, dancing, or painting.
15% belong to rich families who either have to run their family business or just enjoy their lives travelling around the world.
I on the other hand, along with the others who don’t know what to do with their lives, felt that I belonged to the remaining 5%. I felt left out.
Back then, I had a feeling of insecurity towards many of my friends who were doing great with their lives, like they knew exactly what they had to do to become successful, while I was left alone clueless.
But now, I realized that it’s normal and it’s all part of the journey called life.
Not everyone has the same story.
Some of us gets the opportunities to success earlier than the others.
Sometimes we even have to pass through failures to learn a new life lesson before we get there.
There are so many paths that lead to success, but we can’t seem to decide which road is perfect for us to take.
Sometimes, it’s alright to be undecided.
It just shows that you are mature enough to realize that you are capable of much more, and you are actively searching for it.
The best advice for you is not to rush, and take the journey at your own pace!
You are actually in the right path but it’s best not to give up and just continue to do your best in your career.
By going through your journey one step at a time, you’ll be able to learn lots of life’s lessons that will eventually lead you to a path that is perfect for you.
