Alternative Energy Sources
Currently, we are reliant on fossil fuels to heat our homes, run our cars and power our offices, industry and manufacturing responding to our insatiable desire to power all of our electrical goods. Nearly all of the energy needed to meet our demands.
At the current rate of global energy demands, fossil fuels cannot be replace fast enough to meet these growing needs. The consumption of these nonrenewable fuels has been interrelated to the release of modern technologies.
Energy Projections
Studies predict that Earth will be warmer in the next century. When global warming has happened at numerous times in the past two million years, it has taken the planet about 5,000 years to warm 5 degrees.
The projected rate of warming for the next century is at least 20 times faster. This rate of change is extremely unusual. The discussion s around climate change and energy problems today focus around the potential for technical solutions to energy demands that are cost effective.
Alternative Energy Mix
Thus far, the alternative to fossil fuels has been around renewable energy sources which are expected to play an increasingly vigorous role in the mix of power generation over the next century. The demands on these marginal energy sources are excessive.
These will need to not only keep up with the increasing population growth but also needs to go beyond the demands by contributing to the replacement of fossil fuel energy production in order to meet future energy needs considering the natural environment.
Conversely, the argument from governments: oil, coal and natural gas companies is that until renewable energy sources become more feasible as major energy providers, the only substitute in meeting the increasing demands for energy from a growing global population that requires more and more energy is to endure extracting fossil fuel assets.
