Workplace safety is a basic mindset that should never be disregarded in any situation across industries. But perhaps the field of construction poses greater workplace risks and inevitable accidents with the materials and operations involved.
At 10:30 am on March 14, a British engineer got into an unfortunate incident at a cement plant on the compound of Lutchmeesingh’s Asphalt Plant, near the village of Buen Intento in Trinidad. The 55-year-old fell into machinery and was crushed to death.
According to the police, Morris had tried to loosen the aggregate in a cistern with a rod when he was pulled into it. Plant employees took several minutes to dig him out because Morris was sucked into the mixture.

Later that day, officers of the Princes Town Police Station and Southern Division Task Force asked the management and employees for their investigation.
The police report indicated that the address of Morris is at Mathilda Road, Princes Town, where the head office of the transport company is located.
Lutchmeesingh’s Asphalt Plant, as described in its website, is a civil and roadworks contracting firm specializing in construction of concrete and steel bridges, and other civil engineering construction activities. It also indicated that it has 150 employees overlooking 200 pieces of machinery and equipment, quarry lands, and an asphalt and concrete plant.
