Liju Thomas Eapen, President of ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, UAE speaks to GineersNow TV about their role in building future leaders and setting standards in the HVAC industry. Liju discussed their training programs, HVAC standards, environmental impact and 2018 plans.
The Leader
Liju Thomas Eapen is the current President of ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, UAE. He is also the Assistant Regional Vice Chair of ASHRAE Research Promotion. He has held the posts of Historian and Secretary previously in Falcon Chapter. He has a wealth of experience of over 22 years in UAE.
In addition to having taken numerous courses with ASHRAE, Liju has been in the field of HVAC systems and other MEP services for over 10 years. With the extensive experience in Engineering and construction of MEP services and systems, he has been involved in various projects including clinics, hospitals, art galleries, central kitchens, shopping malls, Hotels, high end residences, hotels, restaurants, Shisha smoking areas and Airports.
He is currently the Managing Director of Al Arif Air Conditioning Systems LLC and Al Arif Décor LLC
The Organization
ASHRAE Falcon Chapter (AFC) is one of the most active ASHRAE Chapters outside USA. The Falcon Chapter has 500+ members and is not limited to Engineers, Architects, Researchers, Academicians, Technicians, and Students. This represents wide diversity of our Industry and includes decision makers from Mechanical, Electrical and other related fields.
The Falcon chapter was founded in 2002 and is committed to the achievement of technical quality and excellence in all our programs, services, courses and other activities. The chapter succeeded in bringing to its members and nonmembers accredited training for HVAC Design and Energy Modeling. These courses are normally conducted in the USA but are made available in the UAE through ASHRAE Global Training Centre in Dubai. All courses and seminars are aimed at transferring knowledge on latest principles, practices and products. Sustainability, Energy efficiency, Energy conservation, indoor air quality and human comfort levels are of prime concern to ASHRAE. These must be achieved without taxing too much on the environment through right
selection and usage of technology.
The chapter has very successful partnerships with UAE governmental bodies in implementing standards in the mechanical field. ASHRAE Falcon chapter has also undertaken a task in translating the standards in ARABIC language for easy assimilation by local and regional governmental bodies. Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes tomorrow’s built environment today.
