About the Leader
Daniel Blanco is the Head of Renewables of WSP in the Middle East and has a Master in Engineering with over 10 years of experience on Renewables side of energy business having previously worked in conventional power. He has been involved in the complete live cycle of projects, from inception and site and technology selection, including discussions with utilities and regulators, to capital raise, contracting and complete project execution. His experience includes several combined cycles, coal and diesel engine power plants and utility scale PV plants and several solar thermal power plants including parabolic trough with and without storage, solar towers, hybrid and Stirling engine plants.
He has worked for utilities and regulators, financing institutions, including multilateral banks, developers and engineering and construction companies for projects in Spain, South America, USA, India, China, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Australia, Southern Africa, Egypt and the GCC.
Additionally, he has driven several technology developments; from innovative performance models for Solar Thermal Power Plants, parabolic trough and heliostat structures to market applications for Free Piston Stirling Engines.
