This Engineer’s Resignation Letter is Too Funny

The funniest thing you will read all day.

One of the main traits that engineers are best known for is their innate ability to be witty and funny. Engineers are always ready with a witty statement or comeback, whether it’s about technical terms, jokes, stories and even work. 2

Here’s how a software engineer used his funny and witty side in writing a resignation letter to his boss:

Dear Madam,

It is with great regret that I’m writing you, but I’m leaving this job. The offer was too good for me to turn down. I had to leave immediately because I wanted to avoid a scene with the HR and you. I apologize, but I had no choice.

A Big Heart

The project assigned to me is currently doing fine. There are only around 115 issues pending, wherein only 40% of the issues are High Priority. Therefore, I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about. The other major project enhancements assigned to me have been completed halfway. Surely the new person who will be replacing me won’t understand everything I had done so far. Hence, for his/her and your convenience, I have taken care of this problem by removing all the work I have done in this certain project—so my replacement can start anew without any problems. I am sure you will appreciate my insight and “big heart.”

I am Grateful

I have also changed my contact details. So you will not be able to contact me, to congratulate me. Lastly, I still have the $1,000 fund entrusted to me by the company’s events group for the upcoming dance event. I’m sure you would have wanted me to keep it as a bonus from our company. I am very grateful to you.

Yours Truly

After working with your company for 2 years, I have learned so much. So you don’t have to worry about me, I will make sure to use this knowledge to write better programs for the new company. Someday, I am sure we will meet sometime in the future. If you wish, I will surely be glad to give my employee reference for you to apply for a job in the new company which I am joining.

Your faithful employee,

SW Engineer

PS:

Dearest Boss, none of the above is true. I’m am still busy working at the client side. I just wanted to remind you that there are far worse things in life than my “Request to reconsider my Salary Appraisal” attached in this mail. Please approve it and call when it is safe for me to come to your Office to discuss this.

My respect and Best regards to you!
