Lake Pontchartrain Causeway

This is one of the longest bridges in the world ever built. It is also sometimes called the Causeway. It comprises two parallel bridges. The bridge is over Lake Pontchartrain in the state of Southern Louisiana, USA. The longest bridge among the two parallel ones measures 23.83 miles, which is around 38.35 kilometers long. The two parallel bridges are supported by 9, 500 concrete pilings and also feature a bascule.
In the year 1969, the name of this bridge was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as longest bridge over water. It has been listed in the category of the longest continuous bridge over water. That should make every citizen of Southern Louisiana proud!
Jiaozhou Bay Bridge

You must have heard the name of this construction marvel, which has been introduced to the world quite recently. It got its place in the Guinness Book of World Records in the year 2012. The length of this bridge is around 26.7 kilometers or 16.6 miles. It is located in China’s Shangdong province. It is put in the section of the longest bridge in terms of aggregate length, which has been measured to be 25.84 miles! This bridge over water reduced the distance between Qingdao and Huangdao by almost 30 kilometers. A great thing about this bridge is that it is capable of withstanding typhoons, earthquakes, and collisions from passing ships.
You’d be surprised to know that there was a controversy on being the longest between the two bridges when Pontchartrain Causeway claimed that it has a maximum portion above a water body than the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in China. That debate could go on and on, pretty much like driving through those bridges!
