In this age of information, more and more robots are being developed to aid humankind’s varying needs. Bit by bit they are being involved into different fields in our society, like manufacturing, construction, healthcare, automotive field, and even in the movie industry!

You may have been familiar with some robot superheroes, and supervillains in some movies you’ve seen. We collected some of them to show you 10 of the most famous fictional robots.

BB8

BB8 is a new robot droid favorite in the famous sci-fi saga, Star Wars. In the film, it loyally accompanies Poe Dameron on many missions for the Resistance. BB-8 is a spherical robot with a free-moving dome-shaped head. He is colored white, with orange and silver accents.

R2-D2

R2-D2 is part of the robot duo tandem in the Star Wars saga. R2-D2 is the abbreviated form of Second Generagtion Robotic Droid Series-2. Though it only knows how to whistle talk, slowly move, and do minor things like create hologram messages, it is considered to be one of George Lucas’, the Star Wars creator’s, favorites.

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime is a fictional character from the Transformers franchise. This robot is depicted as one that has a strong moral character, excellent leadership, and good decision-making skills.

C-3PO

C-3PO is the other half of the robot duo in Star Wars. This robot is famous for being a nervous and talkative. It is able to speak and interact in over 6 million forms of communication, which makes him a valuable asset to the group. It works as a protocol droid, and its main purpose is to be a liaison for different races, and planets by knowing their customs, etiquette, and language.

Wall-E

Wall-E, or Waste Allocater Load Lifter- Eart Class, is a fictional robot that was featured in the 2008 heart-warming film Wall-E. The plot of the story follows his adventures as he does his duty to clean the earth wasteland in a future era. While he was cleaning the earth he comes across and falls in love with another robot named Eve, and he follows her into outer space as they try to alter destiny that will save humanity.

T-800

This robot character was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1984 film. T-800 is a cyborg that was programmed as an assassin and military infiltration unit by the resistance in the future to kill Sarah Connor to prevent the birth of her son.

RoboCop
