Creativity Rut
While an engineer’s work involves mostly technical tasks, it still takes creativity to solve different problems. There may be different calculations in every project given to each one of us, sometimes, we have to look at problems in different angles to find the right solution. However, we always can’t be creative all day. We get stuck in a rut and no matter how hard we try, we really can’t solve a problem without our creativity.
So is there any way that we can easily fix this problem? As engineers, we’re a little too busy to attend creativity classes. How can we boost our creative skills which could eventually help us in our jobs?

There are actually easy ways to do so without spending too much. You don’t have to enroll in a class or spend thousands on self-help books. One way to do so is engage yourself in solitary activities. This even involves taking a shower. According to a study conducted two years ago, around 72 percent of people who participated in the survey say that taking a shower helped them gain new insights. Haven’t you noticed how you get to think deeply when you’re alone in the shower?

Other activities include going for a walk, listening to a new type of music, browsing the internet and reading articles on your projects. You could even try something different for breakfast, lunch or dinner in different locations. If you travel a different route to work, it could also help you. Striking up a conversation with a stranger also helps.
The trick here is to not get stuck in a routine. Try something new and hopefully, you could come up with a new and creative way to solve your problems at work.
