Many students in class easily get bored with the conventional setup of the teachers speaking in front and the textbook being read for discussion. For this, Ahmad Zulfadzli Khamidi thought, “Why not make digital textbooks instead?”
While this was a brilliant suggestion considering his age, however, he said that he faced some constraints in realizing his dream.
“I had an idea but did not have the know-how in designing and writing the software codes for the app,” he shared.
But he found an opportunity to execute his idea when he was included as a trainee in the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creative Center or MaGIC at Borneo744, a Blue Ocean Entrepreneurs Township. He was invited to learn the basics and principles of coding for free.
Khamidi, only 13, said that the app no longer requires the teachers to need to mark every exercise and exam paper, and students do not have to bring books to schools. For this, there will not be problems in missing textbooks or insufficient stationery.
He also said, “The app is easy to use and suitable for students of all ages, whether in the primary, secondary or university level.”
For now the app, which is aptly called ___, offers lessons in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics, and Science. But according to Khamidi, more can be added on later.
The same app has already been awarded in the Hack Weekendd KCH, junior category. It was a hackathon event held at the Borneo Convention Center in conjunction with the Tegas Youth Forum.
Now that the teenager has learned how to code, his second now is in the works. According to him, it is designed for small entrepreneurs in Sarawak to market their products.
