We all want to be confident at work. Why? Because work becomes more exciting and opportunities present themselves to people who believe in their own capabilities. Nobody wants to work with someone who doesn’t believe in his self. Would you? If people want to achieve a goal, it’s best to work with others who know their worth at work and give out positive energy.
As for engineers, not feeling confident at work can affect the way people treat you. For those who work for you, it would be harder to trust the decisions you make if you don’t look confident with what you do and the things you implement. Be careful about that. If you feel like you’re having self-esteem issues, it’s best to practice easy ways to boost your confidence. Here are easy hacks to increase your level of self-confidence:
Always come prepared at work. Even when things come unexpected, you have to be prepared for them. Once something unfortunate happens, remain calm. Make sure you always have a plan B or C waiting for back up when things don’t go your way.
While this may be a hard thing to do, it will help you be better at work. Avoid surrounding yourself with people who would give off negative vibes to you or to your team. Be with people who want to see better results, not those who just want to see the project you’re working on fail.
Project the right body language.
Stand up tall and walk like you’re a very important person in the office. Don’t overdo it if you don’t want to be judged as arrogant. Just fake it till you make it.
Never accept failure.
Do not accept a no for an answer. If things don’t work out, find a way to make a way that it will.
Remember there’s good in life.
You may not have gotten a promotion yet but keep in mind all the good things you have in life now. It will surely help boost your confidence. You will eventually get that promotion you want.
