Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook 9th Edition

Should chemical engineering students and chemical engineers wait for this release?

The 9th Edition of Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook

Considered as the bible of chemical engineering students and chemical engineers, Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook is the ultimate source of chemical engineering knowledge. It covers subjects including physical properties of chemicals and other materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid dynamics, chemical reactors and chemical reaction kinetics, transport and storage of fluid, heat transfer equipment, distillation, gas absorption, and liquid-liquid extraction, among many others.

John H. Perry, a PhD physical chemist and chemical engineers, made the first edition of this book published in 1934. Now, in 2018, editors Don W. Green and Marylee W. Southard is launching its ninth edition in time for the handbook’s 85th anniversary.

Set to be published on July 6, 2018 according to the product details on Amazon, the 9th edition of the Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook has a red hardcover – previously blue – and 2,352 pages with a weight of 1.7 pounds. It will be published by McGraw-Hill Education.

The industry-standard resource is now made to be up-to-date, covering all chemical engineering topics from the fundamentals to the state of the art. Its publishers promise that the newest release will provide ‘unsurpassed coverage of every aspect of chemical engineering,’ getting comprehensive details on chemical processes, reactor modeling, biological processes, biochemical and membrane separation, process and chemical plant safety, and much more.

Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook 9th Edition is now available at Amazon for a discounted pre-order price of $175.74. The book will be listed for a price of $199.

Don Green, the handbook’s editor-in-chief, holds a B.S. in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa, and M.S. and PhD. Degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He is Editor of the 6th, 7th and 8th Editions of Perry’s.

On the other hand, Marylee Southard, the associate editor, holds B.S., M.S. and PhD Degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Kansas. She is new to the publication of Perry’s, but has done significant work in inorganic chemicals production including process engineering, design and product development.
