Established in 1988, 12d Solutions is an Australian software developer specialising in civil engineering and surveying solutions. Its flagship product, 12d Model, is sold direct and through distributors around Australia and worldwide. The first version of 12d Model was released in 1991.
12d Model is powerful civil engineering, surveying and terrain modelling software. It allows fast production in a wide variety of projects including mapping; site layouts; road, rail and highway design; residential and land developments; drainage and sewer design; and Environmental Impact studies.
12d Model users include civil and water engineering consultants; environmental consultants; surveyors; local, state and national government departments and authorities; research institutes; construction companies; and mining consultants.
12d Model is modularised, so users can easily choose modules to suit their needs. It is the complete design, survey and mapping solution.

12d Solutions was founded (and is still headed) by Managing Director Dr Lee Gregory and Technical Director Alan Gray. Both visionaries had worked in the industry for many years and found that the solutions on offer simply were not the most user-friendly, and that a true customer focus was lacking.
About Dr Lee Gregory
12d CEO Dr Lee Gregory has been at the forefront of the technical computing industries for over 30 years. His experience includes:
- defining, coordinating, and managing computer projects for companies in engineering, mining, mapping and computer-aided design
- developing computer-aided design and drafting applications
- designing and implementing databases for geological applications, civil engineering, accounting, costing and graphics systems
- managing data communications and computer networks
- organising customer support, training courses and seminars.
At 12d Solutions, Dr Gregory has been involved in all aspects of the specification and design of the company’s major software product, 12d Model. He and Alan’s aim has always been to develop advanced terrain modelling and design software in partnership with civil engineers and surveyors to ensure the software delivered the best-possible range of features and interfaces.
Dr Gregory holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc in Mathematics, and a B.Sc (Hons), from Sydney University.
