The fashion industry has faced a lot of criticisms because of how most of the models’ weight issues promote eating disorders among young girls. But don’t fret, not everybody in the fashion industry is considered a bad example for the younger generations.  With the help of today’s latest technology, Rebekah Marine just inspired everyone with her story of how a “disabled” young woman can walk in a fashion show and become an ambassador for different names. She’s the real Fashion Model Cyborg.

She calls herself the “bionic model”. Born without a limb, this 28-year-old car saleswoman has always dreamt of becoming a model ever since she was a kid. On 2015, she walked in the runway of the FTL Moda show during New York Fashion Week. The FTL Moda show aims to shed light on the importance of diversity in today’s modeling industry.

She also modeled for Nordstrom in its anniversary’s catalog. She is also an ambassador for Touch Bionics and Lucky Fin Project. With her state-of-the-art prosthetic limb, she helps raise awareness about children born without limbs. Her i-limb has sensors that allow her to move its fingers to do things normal people do.

Rebekah Marine is now having a promising career as an inspirational speaker and model but she has made it clear that entering the modeling industry was never easy for her:

“Being a model with a disability has been extremely difficult over the past couple years. Agencies often won’t even look at my portfolio. But I’ve come to realize it’s all about finding your niche. I’ve accepted that most clients may not want to work with me based on my disability“.
