Google, the company responsible for one of the most popular operating systems Android, is working on another new open source operating system for phones and computers, Fuchsia.

The core section of the operating system is called Magenta, a custom block of code that is not derived from Linux. This operating system is meant to be run on “fast processors, non-trivial amounts of ram with arbitrary peripherals doing open-ended computation.” This means that any modern computer or phone that uses cameras, keyboards, microphones, etc. can be used. According to Android Police, the Magenta kernel will already provide for tenets of modern computing such as user profiles and security measures.
There is still the possibility that this could be just a Google experiment, and it may never come out to the public. Developing an entire kernel and operating system is a great task. We’ll have to wait and see
