Mechanical Engineer Creates a 3D Printed Mini Subaru Engine

3d Printed functional mini Subaru engine

Mini Subaru Engine

It’s not new to see daily items printed out of a 3D printer but this project stands out from the rest. Eric Harrell, YouTuber and mechanical engineer, posted a video of what seems to be one of the most fascinating things you’d see in a while: a mini Subaru EJ20 WRX engine. If that didn’t seem good enough for you, did we mention that it works? Yes, this 3D printed contraption has working pistons and everything a working model should have.

Sadly, there’s no way for you to mount this on a 3D printed car yet and it’ll take a huge amount of effort (and resources) to put one together. The engine runs on electricity as opposed to combustion and would be a very good tool for engineering students who want to rip apart an engine to see how it works. Aside from that, the engine is pretty much for display only.
