Why The NFL Is Becoming a Global Force

Why The NFL Is Becoming a Global Force

The National Football League is hugely popular in the United States. Such is the popularity of the sport in the US, the players and coaches are paid enormous amounts of money to perform each week in the NFL. It is fair to say that for millions of households across the US, Sunday is reserved purely for NFL action and that has helped the sport become an economic juggernaut.

Now sports betting has been legalised in many states across the US, gambling is an additional form of revenue for the NFL. Sponsorship deals are already in place between sportsbooks and teams, bringing a new way for both parties to make money. The state of Indiana is a good example, and you can find a complete rundown of the current NFL betting apps available for residents at gambleindiana.com/nfl-betting-apps.

But what about outside the United States? If the NFL is going to continue developing, it must extend its reach to other countries and the league is becoming a global force.

Global Force

One of the ways the NFL is becoming a global force is by taking games outside the country. It is great for fans in other countries to watch the games live on television or online gaming sites but the NFL gameday is best experienced at the stadium itself and fans in the United Kingdom have been able to do that for several years. The first NFL game to be played in the UK was at Wembley Stadium between the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins in 2007. Fast forward to 2021 and there will be two International Series Games played, both of which will be held at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The tickets for these games sell out extremely quickly and you would have to pay a significant sum to get a ticket outside the official channels. The teams selected for the 2021 International Series Games means fans outside the US will get to see some of the biggest quarterbacks in the game, including Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Matt Ryan, and Tua Tagovailoa. With such big-name players in action, it is easy to see why the NFL is growing in popularity, especially in Europe.

Individual teams are also getting in on the act. Speaking ahead of the 2021 series in London, Jaguars team owner Shad Khan, said. “With Urban Meyer as our head coach, we’ll be arriving with an entirely new look and attitude that I’m confident will meet the approval of our Union Jax supporters. I’m also hoping that many of our loyal fans in Jacksonville can join us in London for a great experience and to ratchet up the homefield advantage. Go Jags!”

Notice the term ‘Union Jax supporters.’ This is in reference to Jaguars fans based in the United Kingdom and shows how teams are reaching out to supporters and making them feel part of the team.

There are also plans to start playing NFL games regularly in Mexico City. This will take the NFL to a new audience south of the border and it will be great for Mexican fans to see teams in action live. However, you cannot underestimate the power of television and access to live NFL games across the planet via streaming has been vital to the development of the NFL as a global force.

Even those who do not have access to live coverage from a network provider, it is possible to watch the NFL live thanks to NFL Games Pass. The Pass is available to fans across Europe, the Middle East, South America, Pan Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. With live games being streamed every week to these countries, it is easy to see why the NFL is becoming a global force.
