World’s First Electric Truck isn’t a Tesla

The  Mercedes-Benz Urban eTruck

Electric Truck

Tesla won’t get away with all of the electric “firsts,” because Daimler has first released the first all-electric truck. Called the  Mercedes-Benz Urban eTruck, it made its debut in Stuttgart in July.

The truck has a total admissible weight capacity of 26 tonnes or 29 U.S tons. It is the first truck that uses electricity, which can run to a maximum range of 200 kilometers or about 124 miles, which is a typical daily delivery tour. The design was made optimally for urban environments: aside from its emissions and environmental benefits, the Urban eTruck has a reduced noise than most trucks.

With the possible banning of combustion engines in city centers like London or Paris and the movement of people to urban places, Daimler Trucks is ahead of other truck manufacturers with their latest truck.

The secret of this electric truck lies on its battery technology. The power is supplied by a battery pack consisting of three lithium-ion battery modules. The batteries are crash-proof inside a frame too, being integrated with the motors adjacent to the wheel hubs.
