First impressions can have great impact when it comes to your first day at work. Through life, impressions are what makes us categorize people. Getting to know a person is a completely different thing of course. However, the fastest way for us to make a brief assessment on a person, is by checking on our first impressions on them.
In the workplace, during the first few days where you meet all your colleagues and bosses, first impressions about you and your future work potential can definitely make a major impact on your future with the company you are working with.
You have to take note that first impressions are remembered, and even if you talk to someone not related to your workplace, they may know someone who is. So be careful.

Have a Positive Attitude

Always stay positive, or at least do your best to stay positive. Having a positive attitude can give you a sort of fresh and light aura that radiates through the office floor. No one wants a pessimistic face in an already stressful setting.
Dress Professionally/Blend in With Co-Workers

Do not underestimate the power of the Dress Code. Make sure to always dress professionally at work, or make sure to blend in with what your co-workers usually wear. You can always add your own style to things, but make sure it’s appropriate. Dressing appropriately doesn’t mean expensive clothing as well. As long as you look, neat, tidy, and is an outfit you could work with, then all is good. No one wants a sloppy looking employee.

Being part of a team means that you have to work as one. Share your ideas and take into consideration other’s ideas as well. This will gain you trust from your colleagues and possible lunch mates in the future.
Learn Co-Workers’ Names Quickly
There’s no rush for this, but the earlier you master all your co-workers’ names, the better. Knowing whom your talking to gives the other person a sense of importance and acceptance. How would you feel if your name was forgotten?
Ask Questions/Ask for Help
There’s nothing wrong in asking questions or asking for help—as long as it isn’t any stupid question, then ask away. This will show that you are eager to learn and that you want to make sure that you’re every step is done right.
Take Notes/Go to Orientation
Notes are very handy, especially during orientation and seminars. Unless you have photographic memory, then forget about it—but a very few of us do, so bring out your tablets, or notebooks and write away.
