Return To Office for Renewable Companies During Delta

Renewable energy companies and sustainable businesses should focus on creating and instilling fresh hopes about the efficacy of remote work

Return To Office for Renewable Companies During Delta

For various companies across the United States, September was meant to be the triumphant return to the workplace after 18 months of working remotely. However, this is not the case, as tired managers attempt to negotiate difficult questions revolving around the current Delta variant. Rather than cheerfully welcome workers back to their reorganized offices and concentrating on training personnel for hybrid work, company executives are deeply involved in figuring this out.

It is apparent that there is much COVID-19 fatigue, and people are already eager for the pandemic to end. Faced with a rise in illnesses linked to the Delta strain since July, the first move has been to postpone completely reopening offices. According to a recent Korn Ferry survey, 54% of professionals say their employer has altered its return-to-work plans in response to the increase in infections. Over 20% said that they did not intend to return to work until 2022, while 32% stated that they would never return to an office.

Employees and employers alike want a feeling of normality in the face of such uncertainty, and many have resorted to return-to-work programs and hybrid offices to accomplish this. However, racing to co-locate while working will just add to an employee’s mental pressure.

While companies rethink their strategy, they should note that one of the most critical considerations should be the health and safety of their workforce. Most employee stress is caused by a loss of control over their work schedules and usual surroundings, and the Delta variant has compounded that anxiety as the labor force is confronted with more impending change.

Moving forward, renewable energy companies and sustainable businesses should focus on creating and instilling fresh hopes about the efficacy of remote work and not so much on timetables for returning to office premises. Businesses should maintain an engaged and motivated workforce for now and let back-to-office plans occur naturally when the timing is appropriate.
