How Engineers Can Hide a Hangover at Work After a Wild Nightout

You can still have fun on a Thursday night and go to work Friday morning like nothing happened the night before.

We have all been in this situation before: a friend, say someone who visited after a long time away, wants to go on a nightout but it is a Thursday night. We still have to go to work the next day, but then again that friend will not be around for long.

So we accept the invitation. But for the fear of not being absent at work the day, we spoil the fun by not engaging in the drinking. That friend ends up being disappointed.

Most engineers will decline the drink because indeed, there is a chance that we will not be able to get up to work the next day or we will have a terrible hangover the next day.

But come on, have fun. Engineers are known to be hardcore drinkers, we have to prove that to everyone while still being sane going to work the next day.

How is that possible? Here are tips:

Rehydrate

After a nightout, our bodies suffer from a severe lack of water. To solve this we should take lots of water to replenish the lost fluids. Coffee is not the best fluid to take as it has the opposite effect on hydration.

Clean yourselves up

We have to do our normal morning rituals: shower, brush our teeth, and go through all the basic hygiene habits. Skipping this will do harm on our part.

Take a pill

Ibuprofren is invented for a reason: it is for the terrible hangovers. But we have to stick to the recommended dose and make sure that we choose the non-drowsy ones.

Exercise

This is an activity less likely done after a nightout but if we have the time before work, get down to the gym or lay that mat to sweat the booze out of our system. It works.

Eat something

Never skip breakfast as much as possible. We still need energy to do our work as engineers.

While all these will work definitely, the effectiveness depends upon the level of our hangovers and our ability to hide them. But once our bosses notice the hangover, it is better to say the truth that lying about it when there is photo evidences around Facebook. Our bosses would understand that engineers need to have some fun from time to time, but we have to assure them that the work for the day will get done.
