Safety was never an issue last year. We just wear our color coded hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment for our protection. Well that was last year. Then 2020 came!
Months have passed since the initial coronavirus outbreak spread across the world and caused the countries to implement valid laws to combat the further spread of COVID-19, such as community quarantines, mandatory wearing of face mask, nationwide lockdowns, wearing of face shield, mass testing operations, medical frontline endeavors and other ways to mitigate the spread of the virus.
Needless to say, these unprecedented events have forced several industries to adjust to the “new normal” while the world is waiting for the COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
There were dire changes in each individual citizen’s lifestyle, societal systems that were at play, and perhaps most evident of all, the economy. Industries left and right are still reeling from the adverse effects of this pandemic.
One such industry that faced multiple consequences thanks to COVID-19 is the construction industry. After the months that have passed, one question still remains: what’s next for the construction and subsequent construction technology industries after COVID-19?

Unsurprisingly, the construction and contech industries are suffering from multiple consequences.
Cancelled projects, a lack of investors, near countless delays in resource shipping and deliveries. Because of this, many industry figureheads have been forced to cut costs and unfortunately, lay off some workers since most if not all construction projects are temporarily halted.

However, there is a sliver of hope in the form of technology. Tech is the up and coming winner in relation to the long-term changes to the construction processes that will emerge from this outbreak.
The use of technology like DJI Matrice 600 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 for construction mapping and surveying is a testament of the industry’s resilience towards progress.
90% of organizations have survived thanks to their employees working from home, so perhaps it is unsurprising that 75% of respondents believe that from now on there will be increased use of collaboration technology.

The fact that there even is a chance to bounce back is reason to keep one’s chin up amid the pandemic.
