3 Steps to Become a Morning Person

Become an Early Night Person

Although most people agree that they don’t get enough sleep, most also say they can’t afford to sleep in.  Whether it’s a job or a hobby, it can be a large change if you have to wake up every day bright and early.  Here are the top three steps everyone should know if they want to make that change.  In the morning, people get more work done, so don’t be shy about trying these out!

Become an Early Night Person

The first step to waking up early is to go to bed earlier. Then, over the course of a week, set your bedtime earlier by ten to twenty minutes a day until you reach a time that’s eight hours before when you want to wake up.

It would help if you also tried to stop eating at least twelve hours before you want to wake up.  If we’re busy digesting food and putting our energy into gaining energy, we won’t feel energized when we wake up.

You can also have an easier time naturally waking up if you buy a sunlight lamp. These lamps range between twenty and forty dollars, and they gradient light up so that they trick your mind into thinking that you’re waking up in the morning. You can buy these in almost any color of light you want, and many also play birdsong to help wake you up.

Start Your Day With a Punch

Don’t start your day by sitting and eating or drinking.  These are low-effort activities that might let you slip back into being sleepy and exhausted.  Instead, starting your day with either physical exercise or a mentally straining workout is a good idea.  For some people, this might look like leaving in the morning to go on a two-mile jog before the sun rises; for others, it might be taking a daily quiz on an app.

Although you can’t control how the rest of your day will go, you absolutely must get the most out of these first few hours. If you start to feel lost or uncertain about why you’re getting up and active this early, know that most millionaires admit they sleep fewer hours and get up earlier. This habit of jogging from your apartment complex at five in the morning could end with you looking at Vancouver homes for sale.

Stick to the Schedule

Many people assume that the moment the workweek is over, they can sleep in.  Although getting those extra couple of hours of sleep on the weekends might feel incredible, they make getting up early on weekdays nearly impossible.  The better idea is to wake up at almost the same time every day.

You can help yourself stick to this schedule by scheduling items on your weekends far earlier in the morning than you usually would. For example, schedule a hike with a trainer or group around the time you typically arrive at work. Give your body and brain a chance to get used to this timing before you try to sleep in on weekends.
